Frequently asked questions

Can you tell me what my jewelry is worth over the phone?

We need to see your item(s) in person in order to provide you with an offer

How do I know you’ll make me a fair offer?

We have a GIA graduate gemologist and a GIA certified jewelry professional on staff, so you can rest assured we have the knowledge and experience to help you. We also use 10X -70x loops and microscopes, leverage gauges, and scales that have been calibrated and certified by the State of Maine.

Is it a long process?

Although you don’t need an appointment, calling ahead of time will insure the most qualified staff member will be available to serve you. Usually, the examination of your item(s), our offer, and payment are all made during one appointment.

How do you determine what you’ll pay me?

First, we will decide if your item(s) will be melted down, or added to our estate collection. What we pay for items that will be melted down is based on the day’s price of gold, platinum or silver. If we decide to sell the items in our estate collection, we’ll make you a higher offer than the melt value.
